Scholarship Criteria for Student Application For Northern Neck Chapter of The Virginia Native Plant Society for 2026

The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize an outstanding student graduating from a High School, either public or private in the Northern Neck.

The graduating senior must exhibit a desire to continue studies in a recognized College, University or Community College with a focus on environmental sciences and sustainability, conservation, biodiversity, botany or any discipline that is geared toward bettering our Commonwealth with an emphasis on flora of the Northern Neck.

The applicant must submit a mini-essay of 75-100 words describing how his/her educational career plans align with the Virginia Native Plant Society’s mission to protect and preserve the native plants of Virginia and their habitats.

The scholarship award is $3000 and will be presented to the student at an appropriate time and place.

The applicant must fill out the following information:

  • Name

  • Address

  • E-mail or other contact data

  • School currently attending, and transcript including GPA

  • Recommendations from school, church, employer

  • Relevant community service hours will be considered
