Fall is a wonderful time to spruce up your garden or property with some native plants. If you wish to color your life with birds and butterflies, native plants are a must The Northern Neck Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society will be holding their annual Fall Native Plant Sale at Good Luck Cellars on Good Luck Road in Kilmarnock. Cruise the natives then enjoy some wine, live music on the porch or food each day.
The Sale begins Saturday, Sept. 6th at Noon and continues until 3 pm. On Sunday, Sept. 7th, it will run from 1pm until 3 pm. Knowledgeable native plant Society members and landscape designers will be on site to answer all of your native plant questions – right plant, right place. Again, this year, members of the Northern Neck Chapter of the Virginia Master Gardeners Shoreline Evaluation Program will be on-site to answer your shoreline questions using native plants – protect the Bay, protect its Life - for now and the future.
We are also holding a Members-only Presale on Friday, Sept. 5th from 2:30 – 4:30. If you are not a member but would like to attend and have first choice, you can join on our website or simply come to the Membership Tent on Friday and become a member. We have more plants than ever this year so you don’t want to miss this opportunity to buy hard to find and even a few state-rare plants, carefully nurtured and grown by our members. We have over 2000 plants for sale with more still coming in and over 135 species!!! More than ever before.
This once-a year-sale supports all the Chapter’s educational outreach endeavors and programs from the New Year’s Day Hickory Hollow Walk to the native plant presentations by experts (in person and by Zoom), field trips to various native plant venues, sponsorship to nature camps for children, a college scholarship for an environmentally oriented student, and demonstration gardens throughout the Northern Neck
